Funding
NDIS funding supports individuals with disabilities to access essential services. This funding can be applied to Developmental Education. Developmental Education is a Self-Regulating Allied Health Profession.
Recognised by the South Australian Government as Allied Health
Listed in the NDIS Pricing Arrangements under Capacity Building Support
Included in the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission Practice Standards Verification Module.
Developmental Educators (DE) are recognised by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) as professionals with disability specific expertise providing services under the NDIS. DE may be registered with NDIA as a sole provider, work for an agency that is an NDIA registered service provider, or choose not to register with NDIA.
Supports provided are relevant to the individual DE qualifications, knowledge and expertise
Core and Capacity Building Skills are included in Developmental Education services
Developmental Educator Therapy Supports include Assessment Recommendation Therapy or Training. See NDIS price guide for DE Therapy Line Item under Improved Daily Living
Improved Daily Living Funds are often allocated towards Speech or Occupational Therapy. Developmental Educator support is less commonly advertised but may be the therapy support you are looking for.
Scope of Practice - Check the scope of practice of the DE you would like to work with. They offer different levels of expertise and experience.
Funding Eligibility - If you have NDIS Capacity Building funds in Improved Daily Living, you can likely access a DE, check with your support coordinator or a DE today.
